## About the Song

*The Legend of Agnes the Cowboy* is a folk rock, spaghetti western ballad about a cowboy driven to become an outlaw. The song is narrated by the grieving mother of one of the men who attempted to collect the bounty on Agnes' head, only to meet his end.

In many situations, women and femmes find themselves in harm's way because of men. Yet, historically, the women who fight back are criminalized. Agnes is the sharpshooter those men didn't see coming, who rights all wrongs with her pistol.

Drawing on the narrative country of Jimmy Dean's "Big Bad John" and the dramatic catharsis of Florence + the Machine, this cinematic rocker is perfect for your morning coffee or a country drive.

## Lyrics

**\[Verse 1\]**
She was just a cowboy on her way home
minding her business and her pipe
They rolled up looking for a fight that night
They didn’t know it would end their lives

**\[Chorus\]**
Agnes on the run
Agnes on the run
The bounty calls
They collect none

Agnes on the run
Agnes on the run
Her hand to holster
One shot, it’s done

**\[Verse 2\]**
Now, wanted posters line the halls
The price on her head crawls
toward the heights known to no man
her rumor becoming legend

**\[Verse 3\]**
Yet here they come with their horses
Thinking they’ve got reinforcements
But they have got a surprise in store
When she loads the barrel
and heads for the door (yee-haw)

**\[Chorus\]**
Agnes on the run
Agnes on the run
The bounty calls
They collect none

Agnes on the run
Agnes on the run
Her hand to holster
One shot, it’s done

**\[Breakdown\]**

**\[Chorus\]**
Agnes on the run
Agnes on the run
The bounty calls
They collect none

Agnes on the run
Agnes on the run
Her hand to holster
One shot, it’s done

**\[Bridge\]**
The price on her head rises
tempting wise men to stray
But I beg you, my son
Do not get in her way

**\[Outro\]**
Agnes on the run
Agnes on the run
Agnes on the run
Agnes on the run

She was just a cowboy
on her way home
