About the Song
The Legend of Agnes the Cowboy is a folk rock, spaghetti western ballad about a cowboy driven to become an outlaw. The song is narrated by the grieving mother of one of the men who attempted to collect the bounty on Agnes' head, only to meet his end.
In many situations, women and femmes find themselves in harm's way because of men. Yet, historically, the women who fight back are criminalized. Agnes is the sharpshooter those men didn't see coming, who rights all wrongs with her pistol.
Drawing on the narrative country of Jimmy Dean's "Big Bad John" and the dramatic catharsis of Florence + the Machine, this cinematic rocker is perfect for your morning coffee or a country drive.
